University Heights United Methodist Church (UHUMC) is hiring an individual to perform the duties of the custodian for the Church and Children’s Center.

Qualifications for this position include:

• Ability to relate well with other, work independently, receive instructions, and carry out instructions.
• Ability to perform the physical demands of the position, i.e., mopping, bending, stretching, climbing stepladders, etc.
• Possess knowledge of building maintenance, have the ability to identify building maintenance needs and make minor repairs, and be able to legible complete necessary maintenance request paperwork.
• Familiarity with sanitary cleaning practices, especially as they relate to children, or the ability to learn sanitary cleaning practices.
• Willingness to submit to, and successfully pass, a criminal background check before the interview.

Responsibilities include:

• Follow a cleaning schedule.
• Keep all floors clean; vacuum, dust, sweep, mop as needed.
• Keep all glass clean; wash windows, pictures, glass cases, doors, etc.
• Clean and straighten meeting rooms.
• Keep stairways and hallways clean and clear of stored articles.
• Keep toilet rooms clean, sanitary, and attractive at all times; keep necessary toilet supplies stocked.
• If any unsafe condition or damage is found, depending on the severity, make note and/or contact supervisor and/or complete the appropriate maintenance request paperwork.
• Maintain inventory of all custodial supplies and complete the appropriate paperwork for purchase of replacement stock.
• Other duties as assigned by the Pastor or Children’s Center Director.

This is a part-time hourly position, Monday – Friday, 6:30 p.m. – midnight. Hourly wage is $16.50 per hour. We are willing to consider job sharing for 2 people.
